A University of Maryland student was robbed by a man with a gun early Saturday, the Prince George’s County Police Department said. The robber approached the student about 3:45 a.m. at Baltimore Avenue and Berwyn House Road, police said. The robber displayed a handgun, demanded money and then ran.

Prince George's man killed in suspected gang-related shooting Avenue, Maryland
A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in College Park in an incident that appears to be gang-related, police said. About 4 a.m. Sunday, officers went to the 9100 block of Baltimore Avenue and found David Esequel Avelar, of Hillcrest Heights, suffering from a gunshot wound.
